Lung Lesions Biopsy in Children by Computed Tomography (CT) Fluoroscopy Guided Versus Conventional CT Scan Guided
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Abstract Background Computed tomography (CT)-guided biopsy of the lung is a well-established method of diagnosis. The aim of this study was to determine the success rate of fluoroscopic CT (FCT) and conventional CT (CCT) in needle navigation biopsies from the lung lesions. Materials and Methods A total of 78 patients were prospectively enrolled to receive CT-guided biopsy with (group I, n=23) or without (group II, n=55) fluoroscopic guidance. The mean age was 13.5, and the outcome measurements and complication rate of procedure were successful. Results The success rate was increased in the FCT group (87%) as compared with that of CCT group (80%, p=0.012). The complications (pneumothorax and bleeding) were not significantly different between the two groups (0 versus 8 cases, p=0.097). Conclusion The obtained results revealed that the FCT facilitates the CT-guided biopsy procedures, and it reduced the complications by allowing real-time visualization of the needle tip from skin entrance to the target point.

متن کاملCT-guided biopsy for musculoskeletal lesions.
The study of musculoskeletal tumors greatly improved with the use of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These studies offer excellent imaging of a lesion’s anatomical extension and a clear identification of its active part after contrast administration. However, modern imaging is essentially morphologic; its low specificity only allows for etiological diagnosis in a ...
متن کاملCT-Guided Percutaneous Biopsy of Intrathoracic Lesions
Percutaneous CT-guided needle biopsy of mediastinal and pulmonary lesions is a minimally invasive approach for obtaining tissue for histopathological examination. Although it is a widely accepted procedure with relatively few complications, precise planning and detailed knowledge of various aspects of the biopsy procedure is mandatory to avert complications. In this pictorial review, we reviewe...
متن کاملCT-guided percutaneous biopsy of spinal lesions
Accurate diagnosis of spine lesions is important for its successful management. Imaging-guided percutaneous biopsy is gaining increasing acceptance as a means for obtaining tissue for diagnosis. Most biopsies can be rapidly performed under local anaesthesia, with little patient discomfort and improved safety. Spinal anatomy is, however, complex with many adjacent vital structures. Good knowledg...

BACKGROUND The purpose of this retrospective study was to compare the results and complication rate in CT guided percutaneous trans-thoracic fine needle aspiration biopsies (FNAB) and core biopsies of lung lesions, and to determine the applicability of these needles. PATIENTS AND METHODS In 242 patients (166 males; 76 females) with mean age of 58.9 years (13-84 years) CT guided biopsies of lu...
